Statement from Mike Gibbons on Bipartisan Infrastructure Proposal

June 29, 2021

Cleveland, OH - U.S. Senate candidate Mike Gibbons released the following statement on the infrastructure proposal:

"Republicans in the Senate need to kill this so-called infrastructure plan. It's spending money we don't have on things we don't need. The federal government is broke. It's actually worse than broke, it's $28 trillion in debt.

"We need to fix actual infrastructure - roads, bridges, and ports - but even this bipartisan proposal contains money that has nothing to do with actual infrastructure. The initial fact sheet for the bill includes carve outs for "climate change mitigation," a network of electric vehicle chargers, and money to buy electric school buses.

"Just three months ago, the Biden Administration sent $350 billion in blank checks to bail out state and local governments. Since coming to office, President Biden has proposed $6 trillion in new spending, and Bernie Sanders is teeing up even more with the hopes of ramming it through using reconciliation. Inflation - the hidden tax on American families - is skyrocketing. We can't keep printing money and sticking future generations with the bill.

"Enough is enough. Stop the spending. The Republican Party needs to stand for fiscal responsibility."
