Gibbons for Ohio Announces $9.9 Million Ad Buy
July 29, 2021
Cleveland, OH - Today, Gibbons for Ohio reserved $9.9 million in broadcast and cable television time for the 2022 election cycle, with $2.9 million reserved in 2021 alone.
The first ad, running statewide on broadcast, cable, and radio, begins on Friday, July 30, 2021. The media strategy will keep Mike Gibbons on the air through the May 3 primary.
Gibbons stated:
“Our message isn’t about me, it’s about us. We believe in America. We need to come together, stand proud, and fight to preserve this great nation. We are calling on the people of Ohio to join our team.
“The agenda of the Left threatens the very fabric of our country: Runaway spending, inflation, a crisis at the border, the federal takeover over elections, unelected bureaucrats telling us how to live our lives, and a culture that seeks to divide us along racial lines. This election is too important to leave it to career politicians and party insiders.
“As Team Gibbons grows, people need to know that no one will work harder for Ohio. No one will put more on the line for Ohio. We’re committed to win. We’re building an unprecedented grassroots team and a relentless travel schedule to talk with activists and voters. Ohio deserves a conservative outsider who is blunt, fearless, and unafraid.”
The ad, titled “We Believe,” was produced by The Strategy Group for Media, an Ohio-based national media firm that has helped elect 13 U.S. Senators and 95 U.S. Representatives. The ad uses football imagery to relate to both Mike Gibbons’ business experience and the pressing issues of the day.
Ad Transcript:
“America has been knocked down by the left, but football taught me to get back up.
“We have something to stand for. We believe in the greatness of America.
“And secure borders, the right to bear arms, fair elections, the sanctity of life, and the power of faith.
“I’m Mike Gibbons, and I approved this message, because winning isn’t everything. It’s the only thing.”
In 2018 as a first-time candidate, Mike Gibbons won 38 of Ohio’s 88 counties and received 32% of the vote in the Republican primary for U.S. Senate.
The 2021 portion of the buy alone ($2.9 million) is nearly as much as Gibbons for Ohio spent in the entirety of the 2018 campaign ($3.1 million). Mike Gibbons raised $500,000 in his first quarter in the race, nearly as much as the $625,000 he raised in the entirety of the 2018 campaign.
In addition to the media buy, the Gibbons for Ohio campaign announced an 88-county tour in August and September, speaking to Republican and conservative groups, meeting with pastors, community leaders, and business owners, and engaging with voters.
